BCH = Bose, Chaudhuri and Hocquenghem
Why BCH :
Modern mobile systems such as MP3 players and digital cameras incorporate NAND Flash memories because of its non-volatile property and a high density.
In order to reduce the chip area, MLC (Multi-Level Cell) structure is adopted however it may incur high error rate.
One-bit-error correction Hamming code is often used in SLC (Single-Level-Cell) structure, but it is not appropriate for MLC.
Therefore stronger error control schemes like BCH code is used, for its multi-bit error correction capability.
